Deepen our ability to apply, under the Holy Spirit's direction, the power and promise of the resurrection to our daily lives.
Our Savior repeatedly assured his followers that trials would be the rule, not the exception. Paul wrote, "Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in wht you have learned and have become convinced of..." (2 Timothy 3:12-14).
How fitting those words are today. We experience attacks on our family structure, lightspeed advances in technology, political unrest and open hostility towards God's people around the globe. These lessons afford us the opportunity to address the problem, discover what God has to say, stand our ground, and move forward with renewed hope in the Lord.

The Bible book of Joshua is the account of God making good on His promises. It tells how Israel entered and conquered the land God had promised them - against overwhelming odds. In fact, God's faithfulness is so complete that at the end of the book we hear this proclamation: "You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every pormise has been fulfilled: not one has failed" (Joshua 23:14). Can we count on God to keep His pdromeses? The anser from Joshua is a resouond Yes! This study is for those whose prayers seem to go unansered, for those who wonder if God is really alive and active, and for those who desire fresh assurance of God's dependability.

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). No, that's not a misprint. It is "fruit of the Spirit," not "fruits." All of this fruit comes from the one and same Spirit. This fruit is the possession of every Christian in whom the Spirit of God lives. As Christians, we may not realize that we all have this fruit already - may the Lord cultivate and ripen it in us in ever-increasing measure! We look into both Testaments in order to witness how the Spirit's fruit ripens.
